The organization of the 40 miles from Bru dedicates itself every year to a phenomenal doublehanded sailing competition for sailors on the Grevelingenmeer. Not only for the oiled competition teams, but also for the touring sailors among us. The 40 miles from Bru has six unmeasured classes every year, where Hallberg Rassy sailors are more than welcome. This year the contest will take place on Saturday 26 May.
What to expect?
Beautiful routes, where cross-hulls alternate with bouy rounds where perhaps advantage can be gained. Together with your sailing partner in crime you sail forty sporting miles, with a start from Jachthaven Bruinisse. Our doublehanded sailing competition became a sporting phenomenon, but everything around sailing is known as being fully cared for. Two nights in the nice Marina Bruinisse, a small but cozy drink on the Friday night, the bolus with coffee at the palaver and a packed lunch on the go. Upon return, the drinks are ready and a luxurious buffet is prepared, followed by live music by the Zeeland Copycat. Until the early hours there is dancing, toast and here and there of course celebrated the victory.
To make it extra challenging for the Hallberg Rassy sailors, a special Rassy prize will be awarded to the overall winning doublehanded team. An honor that can be kept for many years.
What else you need to know
You can join the 40 miles of Bru with a sharp yacht from eight meters. The entry fee is 90 euros, of which 5 euros each year is donated to the KNRM, which play an important role in safety in the doublehanded competition. For the sailors everything is arranged, friends and companions are of course also welcome at the party. Register yourself and sail partner in crime via www.40mijlvanbru.nl. The registration closes on Sunday 20 May. Do not wait too long, so the bean counters have plenty of time to determine a correct rating. There is room for up to 200 ships.

Wij hebben onze HR 40 “Calanche” ingeschreven; we (Pa en zoon) doen al een aantal jaren mee en vorig jaar bewezen dat je ook met een HR kunt winnen in je klasse!! Daarnaast is het een bijzonder leuk evenement, strak georganiseerd en goed verzorgd met een gezellige BBQ en feest aan het einde van de wedstrijddag.
Voor de wedstrijd zelf hoef je geen stress te hebben, de start is meestal niet heel chaotisch en een minuutje later starten op een wedstrijd van een uurtje of zes is acceptabel (tenzij je met een fanatieke zoon vaart). Als je eenmaal bent gestart is het niet veel drukker om je heen dan op een mooie zondagmiddag op de Grevelingen!
Kortom, gewoon inschrijven en genieten van een sportieve uitdaging!!
